During a slow period, they might be able to switch resources over to something like this, but it'd likely be low priority unless someone's looking at the numbers and sees that they're low enough that something needs done but high enough that they're still a source of respectable profit, hitting a sweet spot that suggests there could be movement in profits by changing the prices.Ī few years ago, I probably would have thought of a simple price change as something quick and easy, too.

You also don't want to totally piss off people who'd bought things previously at full price.Īll of these take time, which means paying someone to do this stuff, rather than working on some other project(s). You don't want to give the idea that you're going to close it down. Once that's done, you'll want to determine how you market it.

Once that's sorted, someone has to go through the various systems and update pricing (should be a centralized spot that holds that data, but if the data is in a database that then feeds into a database for the website, it'd require someone making sure the website database refreshes with the new information from the central database). Then you have to consider what price the market would be receptive to that would still net you a good margin. So it would be more of a permanent change in pricing. You don't want to say "blowout" because that suggests you're shutting it down. The store has some nice premium items which would be a shame to not share with players. I'd hate to see it lost to time and history. I'm hoping players can have access to the entire inventory in TS3, even if it's some archive. (Funny thing is that my old laptop could play TS3 but couldn't handle TS4, even with 4's compartmentalized neighborhoods/houses/zones.) The old laptop used to be able to play TS3 but I'd have to disable Seasons since the weather required so much processing power.

However, my poor laptop couldn't keep up and would constantly overheat and power down.

I got a new PC last summer and it handles TS3 just fine. Before their attempt at optimization, I used to use a side program called "Sims 3 Launcher" (or something like that), which was developed for exactly that - select the EPs you want and disable those that you do not. With Origin, it actually tells the player to select the EPs you want to play, instead of the old default of launching all content.
